Chris Lynch is an award winning journalist and television news producer. He hosts a morning talk show on New Zealand's #1 commercial station Newstalk ZB. Chris works across all media platforms including television, radio, print and social media. He worked  in 'live' network television control rooms, producing significant international news. In 2017 Chris was part of the team who won an award at the New Zealand Radio Awards for best team coverage. The same year, Chris picked up the award for excellence in journalist for coverage of a breaking news story at the New Zealand Emergency and Public Relations Awards. Chris was nominated for "best talk host"  at the New Zealand Radio Awards in 2016, 2015, and 2014. He hosts nationwide talk radio shows and presents special network shows including War Memorial Day, Easter holidays and New Zealand Day.   (Below: Chris Lynch with then New Zealand Prime Minister)   He is also an experienced video content producer having filmed and edited social media video for clients including Emirates and luxury international hotel brands in Hong Kong and Las Vegas. 



In 2015 and 2014, Lynch produced and hosted a weekly current affairs television show. Lynch interviewed leaders from every major New Zealand political party including the Prime Minister.Previously, Chris was a television producer on the country’s #1 nightly current affairs prime time national show, producing high rating stories, as well as managing special coverage of the 2011 Christchurch earthquakes.                                                        


In 2012, he led an undercover investigation into an under-age sex sting and that same year was recognised at the television awards and won the award for Best Journalist on a Daily Current Affairs Show. The offender exposed in the investigation was arrested and convicted. Another undercover investigation by Chris Lynch prompted a government prosecution against an Australian company using illegal tactics sell products. Chris was the main Crown prosecution witness. The company featured in the TV investigation was fined over half a million dollars. Another story Chris worked on, was that of an HIV positive Auckland man who was deliberately infecting men and woman with the virus. The offender faced 14 charges of infecting, or attempting to infect 14 people with HIV. Chris' investigation exposed loop-holes in the law which, at the time, prevented health authorities contacting police because of privacy laws. Chris has also produced and edited entertainment news/interviews, working alongside a current affairs host with artists including Tom Jones, Usher, The Black Eyed Peas, Lionel Richie to name few.

In 2012, Chris was the weekend news anchor for the country's only public broadcasting television channel. He produced hourly bulletins, writing and compiling news, sport and weather. Chris previously worked for the country's #1 radio station, covering international stories including the Chinese milk scandal where he was the first reporter to interview the CEO of the company involved. The same year he broke the story of the collapse of one of the country's biggest finance companies and covered the military takeover in Fiji, speaking to the then controversial police chief. While radio reporting, he uncovered an immigration scam, prompting a Government investigation leading to the deportation of illegal immigrants. Before working at NewstalkZB's headquarters in Auckland, Chris spent two years as a radio journalist, covering the South Island's West Coast reporting on tornadoes, corrupt police officers, and two mining disasters. He holds a Bachelor of Broadcasting Journalism Communications Degree and a Diploma in Television Documentary Making.

Lynch was a finalist at the 2015 New Zealand Radio Awards in the Best talkback Presenter category and after just one year, as host, he was nominated as a finalist at the 2014 Awards in the Best Talkback Host category. Chris holds a Bachelor of Broadcasting Degree in Broadcasting Television and Radio and has a Diploma in Television Production and has worked for the Walt Disney Company in a creative capacity, and is a professional puppeteer.
